Default Jenn-Air JED8430adb vs JED8430bdb glasstop - any difference?
Brand: Jenn-Air
Model Number: JED8430BDB
Age: Less than 1 year

I just ordered a glass top replacement for my JED8430 30" glass cooktop (less than a month old - it just cracked/shattered on me). However, I just noticed that the glass top I have on order (partselect part# PS129920 / Maytag part # 74007072 ) is labelled for the (discontinued) JED8430adb and my cooktop is technically the JED8430bdb (which replaced the JED8430adb). Does anyone know if the JED8430adb glass cooktop part I have on order should fit the JED8430bdb? Partselect doesn't have any listings available for the JED8430bdb... From the photos / parts diagrams, the two seem to differ in the look of some of the knobs, but the glasstop itself seems to look the same... thanks

The letters at the end of the model are for production, listing and color.

The A standing for the first production and the B for the second production.

The part you ordered will be the same size and will fit.

I just answered my own question... got the JED8430adb part, and it fits perfectly in place of the top for the JED8430bdb. In fact, I like it MORE - the heating plate lines on the JED8430adb are a dark black colour that doesn't stick out like the white lines on teh JED8430bdb, and from a distance the whole cooktop looks like one beautiful piece of glass. Nice.

Thanks Sheila - I didn't see your message until I just replied to my own message... thanks for the note. Yeah, as I mentioned above, I really like the cooktop on the 'a' model more than the 'b' model believe it or not...
