The large burner on my ceran cooktop is always on high-no matter what level I select. Would an ignitor switch be the solution, and if so, is it easy to install by the lay person?

It is likely the infinite heat switch that is your problem.

You will need the model number of your cook top.

The number that you gave is for the cartridge.

The switches are not hard to replace.
