Default Ignitors - top burners
Brand: Jenn-Air
Model Number: JGS8850ADWL
Age: 1 - 4 years

I've read several posts with this exact same problem. The ignitors on my gas range continue to spark for about ten seconds, even after the burner has lite. The porcelin ignitors are discolored and have a web of fine lines through them. All with the exception of one. And that one is ok. Should I have a qualified technician replace these or could I do it myself. I appreciate any feedback.

Ben

your stove have a spark module that will stay sparking until the spark electrode detects the flame. take a little wire brush to the tip of the electrode and clean it. also make sure the flame is hitting the electrode, maybe the burner port is clogged

Thanks, I've done that already and it still continues to spark. It's seems as though "it takes 10 to 15 seconds" to detect the flame.
