Default How to take off the oven door ?
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: KDRP407HSS0
Age: More than 10 years

Hi,
I'd like to replace the inner glass door of my oven (got broken). Found the part and ordered it, but it seems that removing the 6 screws on the inside of the door is not sufficient, and the door has to be completely unmounted from the oven in order to take it apart and get at the inner glass.
However I'm not sure how to unmount these hinges since there is no screw there. Is there a special tool for taking them apart? If not, what's the trick?

Thanks for any tips!!
Guy

Default How to take of the GE oven door

Looking at my manual it states the door is very heavy. What you need to do is open the door part way and grab firmly on the sides (like straddling the door) and pull firmly. There are no screws holding the door on. Again the door is heavy to be careful.

Hope this helps you.

Default Never throw away instructions!

I learned that from my wife--I used to always throw away instructions. If you look at the base of the door hinge where near where it joins the oven you'll see a hole. You should find a nail small enough to insert, making sure that it will stay. Do this for both hinges. Then, gently close the door as far as it will close (not quite all the way). Standing right next to the door, keeping it in position, reach to the bottom of the door next to the hinges and pull out. Thats it.
