Default How to replace metal band on oven door?
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: J DP39WOW2WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

We need to replace the metal band that goes around the door of our GE drop-in range. It is rusted from hanging a hand towel on the handle and having water accumulate at the bottom of the glass door where this metal strip is located. From the diagram I have tried to attach, I am not sure which part I need nor can I see how to get to the screws, if any. Has anyone dealt with this who can offer some tips? This is a GE drop-in, J DP39WOW2WW.

I have attached a link to the diagram if anyone has time to help out. Thanks. Tom

Some additional info: Sears parts says all I need is the bottom trim for about $15. My problem is I see there are three screws underneath the door holding the trim on, but the trim is also connected to the side trim by some kind of weld or soldering. How would I reconnect the weld, unless that bottom trim comes with more than I think it does, like the side trim too. Any ideas? Thanks. Tom

Nevermind. I took the door apart and found that the entire door frame is one piece that I will have to replace for about $80.
