Question How to replace heating element?
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FEF389WFCJ
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hi,

I am trying to see how to remove the ceramic top on my range to inspect one of the heating elements but not sure how. I have a frigidaire model FEF389WFCJ.
I am thinking there may be screws behind that I need to remove.
Any help would be appreciated.

V/R,

Kevin

Open the oven door and look along the edge of the top and remove the two screws that hold the top down.

You can use a 12" piece of wood to hold the top.

Remove the two screws that hold the retaining bar in place.

Here is a link to your range model FEF389WFCJ.

Sheila,

Thanks for response. The only screws I saw when opening the oven door was the four screws used to hold the burner knobs in place. I looked at diagram but it is hard to tell how it is connected to lower portion. Are the two hinges in back holding it in place? It looks like the top may slide into place.
What do you think or did I miss something (which is very possible)?

V/R,

Kevin

The knobs on the model number that is listed above on the consoled not above the door.

The top is hinged but I am not sure what you are looking at.

Can you please check your model number?

It is the correct model but the exploded view of the parts is not very good. The knobs (for the elements) that are right above the oven door are shown in Backguard diagram.
I am starting to think that it slides in and is connected in back some how. Is it ok just to pull range out to look at it? Is its plug just like a dryer?

Thanks for help,

Kevin

You can pull the range out it will not hurt anything.

The only reason I questioned your model number is that when they make a breakdown the component are usually the same as the range.

A stove with the knob on the front will not show a picture of knob on a back guard.

Does your range have a back guard?
