Question How do I lift up range top freestanding w/ ceramic surface
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 911.95508990 /1 sears. com changes last digit to a 1
Age: 5 - 10 years

Searched and did not find. How to lift up top of my ceran top free standing range.
I know older models just lifted up (with some effort due to large clips) and rotated at axis near base of rear on unit before the control panel. My kenmore of GE parts assembled by whirlpool is stubborn and I do not want to shatter the very expensive top to replace the halient burner regulator assy. if I can determine that is the cause of my intermittent too hot RT front 8" burner problem. We replaced the control unit some time ago and had problem prior to and after the brain replacement. Its either the knob control or the burner nothing else to the stove I know of can cause this. If it was constant way too hot (like max) I think it would be the knob control per the other searches I found. Wife feeds large family of six several times daily and I cannot affort to break this stove or have it replaced. Having a burner down is a big hinderance. Its the big 2000 watt one in front that gets used the most!

Default

Remove the two screws from underneath the cook top which secure the front of the cook top to the chassis.

Lift the cook top and support.

Unplug the wiring harness connectors at the back by squeezing the side tabs. Remove the screw securing the ground wire.

Lift the back end of the cook top about two inches to unhook the hinge pins from the brackets.

Raising the cook top too high can break the glass.

The burner control is likely at fault.
