Hotpoint oven
I am sending this for repair help on my hot point oven. the oven on the stove does not maintain the correct temperature. When you set the temperature it will preheat and the light goes on saying that the oven is preheated. The baked element does go on and off but does not keep the temperature near what it is set at. Using an oven thermometer it is 100 to 150° below the set temperature, but this varies. I am thinking it easy either the clock/oven controller # WB 27K5251 or the sensor # WB21X5301. Do you think I am correct in this assumption? If so can you tell me how to test these two parts to find out which one is defective? Do you need me to get any further specifications about the operation of the oven to get a response? Thank you for your help. Paul

You can check the sensor by checking the resistance.

The resistance should be 1100 ohms at room temperature.

The resistance goes up as the temperature goes up.

If the sensor is responding it is the clock that is not reading the temperature correctly.

Here is a link to your range model RB787GY2BB.
