The dual control switch needs to be replaced. The replacement part (#12002125) has 8 contacts and the old switch has 5 (typical isn't it). I need to know which wire is connectd to which contact on the new switch. Can anyone help me? Thanks

That would be ok if I needed to replace the single switch. The dual switch has contacts labeled 5, N, 4, 2, & 3. I appreciate your answer and I will save it when the single switch goes out as it will sooner or later.

Thanks

Thanks again! That is the document that came with my switch. The original switch has a connection for the red wire but this doesn't seem to have a location for it to connect. I worry about causing a fire, etc. working with a 240v system. Do you interpret this diagram as using only the wires shown (2, 3, 5, & 5) and ignoring the red wire that connects to "N" on the original switch? If that looks like the way to go I will just wrap the red connector and secure it out of the way and give it a go.

Thanks again

This is how I interpret it
Original switch 2 is L1 goes to new switch P1
Original switch 3 is H1 goes to new switch 4
Original switch 4 is H2 goes to new switch 4a
Original switch 5 is P goes to new switch S2
Original switch N is L2 goes to new switch P2

Unless you have two reds in one connector for N/L2 , then you have to follow the * items at the bottom of the page.

Could not find a schematic for your unit but here is one that shows how the switch is wired in

Default Time for the Acid Test

I wonder how many times that I can thank you. Your advice is a life (and circuit breaker) saver. I have not tried the pin out yet (no time) but I will soon and let you and the forum know how it worked out. I see that the new pinout reverses the bl and r wires at the burner. The burner doesn't know which wire is which just that it is getting 120v from 2 different sources.

Thanks Again

Default Schematic

Denman

After my last reply I realized that I have the schematic for my cooktop. I tried to send it to you as an attachment but it is too big. If you have another email address that will take this .pdf document (about 500k) I will send it there.
Thanks,
B P
