I installed a large burner that appeared to be alright. However, after I switched it on the burner blew. The result is that the power light stays on with the switch in the On or Off position. I put the original burner back in and it works normal. I checked the burner receptacle and found about 32 volts ac when the switch is in the Off position. It seems like I blew a diode and it feeds back to the light. Did I ruin the switch?
Please, give me advice and don't be too hard on me because I know I did stupid. I should have checked the burner beforehand.
Thanks. Hoiman.

It sounds to me like you need a switch for that burner. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
