not sure about a GE, I have a Kenmore, I just broke my top, $450 + taxes for a new one.
On mine if you open the oven there is two screws at the top, these must be removed. Then you lift the whole assembly. You can see underneath and get a better idea.
Check your new assembly and you should be able to see these 2 holes on the front lip.
See if there are any holes in the back or whether it just rests over a clip. Different manufaturers do it differently.
I believe there are thread on here from other GE owners dealing with the issues and they have some schematics.
