One of the two hooks to keep the oven door closed is unhooked.

The hooks are located inside the oven, not in the door.

What is the best way to get to the spring in order to re-hook it?

I tried the side panel but to no avail.

I couldn't find your springs in this diagramMaytag Appliance S166W-C Parts List but on ovens that have a storage drawer under the door you can remove the drawer for easy access to the hinge springs.

re: spring off the hinge for the oven door on a Jenn Air electric range.
After fooling around for hours, I found the answer myself.
There are two screws located above and below the hinge that holds the hinge to the frame of the oven.
I removed the two screws and the hinge from the stove, re-hooked the spring and replace the hinge in the hole.
