Exclamation Help! oven blew up!
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mer6875aaw
Age: 1 - 4 years

hey guys first post so bare with me. the other night i came home from work and the bake light was blinking for the top oven. i hit cancel and it would come right back on. after a couple times i got the manual out and it said to unplug the oven wait a couple minutes and plug it back it. ok. i did get the oven unplugged and let it cool off for 45 minutes. because the upper element in the upper oven was all that was being used and the oven was extremely hot! i plugged the oven back in and it popped loud 3 times in the back and smoke rolled out of the top back of the oven. i was trying to unplug it while it was popping and smoking, but was caught off gaurd to say the least. i can pretty well bet the control panel is shot but is there anything i might want to check when i replace the control unit? thanks in advance!

The only thing you can do is check it out and see if any thing else looks damaged.

Here is a link to your range model mer6875aaw.
