Unhappy Heating element shuts down
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: RC8400XY
Age: More than 10 years

I have a 10+ old Electric Whirlpool stove top. During heavy cooking, like Thanksgiving or Christmas, one location of the "burners" will stop working. To restart, the knob must be turned to off, wait a few minutes, then turn on. This restart will work for 10 -15 minutes, and then I need to repeat. I tried swapping heating elements, but the problem doe not follow the element. Could this be the thermostats?

Default

It is likely the switch that is the problem.

Can you please supply the last two digit of the model number?
