Question Glass top element won't shot off
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MER6755ACW
Age: 1 - 4 years

My wife was cooking on two front large elements, there was a spark under front left elem. After that front left elem. wont shot off, keeps going on and off and its always hot.I unplaged stove from the wall, lift the glass top and there was a resedue from the spark under one wire conector to the elem.I disconect all four wires (one from the coil and three from the thermostat) and insulated wires with elect. tape. and removed the element. When i pluged stove into the wall "on indicator"light is steady on even with switch at off position.Would i have to replace just element or infinite switch or both considering that "on indicator"light is steady on even though element is removed, wires insulated and switch turned off ???

I would replace them both, because, when the element shorted out, the voltage surged back to the switch, and fuse the contacts in the switch that tell you the switch is on. I am 100% sure, Tom ApplianceEducator.com
