Default GE wall oven timer/clock 'expired'
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JKP38G0J6BG
Age: More than 10 years

Late last week, my oven timer alarm sounded off for the last time. The timer/clock went dead (dark). The knobs & push buttons have no effect. Well, I thought, I don't really need a timer or clock there because I have other timers and clocks. That is not quite true. It seems that the timer/clock module is a required part of the self-cleaning cycle. No clock - no cleaning cycle!

GE says they no longer make the part needed. However, there appear to be a number of similar modules available from on-line parts sites like partselect. I think I first need to remove mine and then find one of similar size, shape, and electrical characteristics to 'plug-in'. I can probably resolve connector mismatches for the wiring. So, I have two questions:
1) anyone know where I can get a {free} manual or diagram, to help me with the disassembly?
2) Any suggestions on a replacement part for the clock module?

Thanks,
cs

When a part becomes no longer available there is not much that can be done. However there are companies that repair appliance timers. The best thing to do in this case is to go online and find one closest to you.

As for a free manual you can try your local library. They may have one that will help you.

Default oven control not working

My GE clock control went out because of power surge. Partselect sent a replacement ...wrong number. Tried to find the correct control but no luck. Bought a new Whirlpool at Lowes as they had the best price. Maybe I can get Partselect to take back the one tey sent.
