Default GE Wall oven F3 error code
Brand: Gibson
Model Number: JTP14WV2WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Should I replace or repair this wall oven? I have been getting an F3 error code and a beeping when attempting to preheat the oven over 300 degrees.

What could be the problem? Is this an easy fix? We are planning on replacing this appliance by the Fall when we update our kitchen but I can't go without an oven that long.

Thanks for your help.

Probably a bad oven sensor, just replace it, refer to partselect for info.

Does the oven have to be removed in order to replace sensor for F# error?

Default wall unit was removed

I did have to take the whole wall unit out to replace the sensor. But, I don't think I really needed to do that. The actual problem was that the fan in the oven has a screen behind it that was dirty. We just pushed it to the side because it isn't really needed and now the oven works fine. When I just replaced the sensor I was still getting the error code. I finally called a serviceman and he found the dirty screen behind this fan. I can't believe how easy that would have been to fix if someone had mentioned that to me.

I hope I answered your question.

I am having the same problem. I bought a new sensor and installed it and it appears that was not the FIX. It works sometimes and then sometimes it just keeps beeping f3. I wonder if my problem could be the fan too? How did you clean the screen to the fan and where is that located? I had to remove the oven to replace the sensor, I could not pull the connection all the way though the hole in the oven. Please help with the fan cleaning thing I am frustrated with the F3 code.

Default location of oven fan with screen

I had a GE service guy finally come and he had me turn off the circuit breaker to the oven first. Then, he opened the top panel of the oven. The fan is on the left side in the back. The service guy just pushed this screen out of the way because he said it really isn't even needed. I think when we had our wood floors refinished the dust settled inside the oven. If the fan screen is dirty then it won't let the fan turn on. The fan is important because your oven heats up and needs to cool off. My F3 code didn't come back on when we turned the broiler on. We knew the fan didn't need the motor replaced because the fan kicked on when it got hot and worked fine. It cools the unit down when it needs to. The reason F3 was coming on was not because of the temperature sensor it was because my fan was not working with the dirty screen. Oh and changing the temperature sensor was not easy. I did replace that and pulling it through the insulation in the oven was tricky. It is hard to plug back in. But, I had the service guy check it and he said it was plugged in ok.
Good luck I only had to pay for a service call and really didn't need to order a thing!
