Default GE TrueTemp Oven gets temp wrong on first try, right on second try
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JKP27WOA1WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Our GE TrueTemp wall oven (digital control for top oven, analog for bottom oven) never gets the temperature correct on the first try (off by more than 150 degrees), but does get it correct on the second try.

Here's what I mean: set the top oven to 400 and press Start. The temperature gauge climbs slowly to 400 and the oven clicks off. Immediately stop the oven and set it to 400 once again, and press Start. The temperature gauge reads only 232 (the oven has had no time to cool down) and then it will slowly climb to 400, this time for real.

I would like to know what is causing this problem, and whether it's something I can fix myself.

Thanks

This would be a problem with the electronic oven control.

Here is a link to your oven model JKP27WA1WW.

Thanks for the reply. Is the 'electronic oven control' the thermostat? Or is it a device that sets the temperature for the thermostat? I couldn't find any part by that name.
