Default GE Spectra XL 44 - Gas oven pre-heats very slowly
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JGBP90MEB2BC
Age: 5 - 10 years

My GE XL44 gas range is very slow to pre-heat the oven. I have searched the forum and found several forum postings. The one item that I have not seen in any of the other postings descriptions of the fault, is whether the user notices if they actually see a gas flame from the burner bake and if they hear any strange sounds.

My ignitor assembly glows fine from it appearance, after about 10 to 20 seconds I see a very low gas flame issuing from the burner bake and I "hear a sputtering sound" . I would say it takes a good 20 - 30 minutes to reach approximately 200F.

The Broiler burner bake works fine in either LOW or HI mode, and all four stove top burners work fine.

Thank you for any guidance or advice.

It sounds like a weak igniter.

This would cause the sputtering and low flame.

Here is a link to your oven model JGBP90MEB2BC.

Thanks for your advice. I've ordered the igniter and will have my range fixed this weekend.

Thanks again for your help.
