Default GE Oven question
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: J BP26G V3AD
Age: 5 - 10 years

Oven will not shut off completely - both elements stay hot to the touch, although only a space of 1/4 inch or so stays red hot, and that is on the bottom element. Bottom element will not get totally red hot, broiler element will get red hot on broil. Pre- heating takes extremely long. Is it a bottom element problem, or a control problem or both?

You have a control problem.

Here is a link to your range model JBP26GV3.

Default THANKS - Next Question

Which part do I need to replace - and does this explain the 1/4 inch section of the bottom burner that stays red-hot?

Also, would you recommend replacing the part or getting a new oven inasmuch as the current oven is about 10 year old?

Thanks so very much for your help!!!!

Wayne
