Default GE Oven - no baking and broiling problem
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JGBP26GEJ
Age: More than 10 years

My oven suddenly stopped heating. Neither the baking nor broiling burners work, but the stove top gas burners do so I know there is gas supplied. The stove uses separate thermostats and globars for baking and broiling. I have not tried to see if the self-cleaning mode works. The neon oven pilot lights when the stove is turned on.

Make sure that your clock is set to the manual setting.

It may be set for the time bake function.

Here is a link to your range model JGBP26GEJ.

I checked the clock and made sure it was not set to time bake. When either the broil or oven setting is selected the neon pilot under the legend OVEN lights, so I am pretty sure that power is being fed to the safety valve. As neither the broiler or oven lights, I suspect the valve is the problem.

If the clock is not on time bake then it is possible that it is the valve.
