Default Ge Oven Door Glass Replacement Advice
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: jsp31g0p1wh
Age: More than 10 years

Hi ... I need to replace the glass on a GE range. I found the part online, but after reading a few of the other threads on replacing the outside glass, I wanted to make sure I do this correctly. Do I need anything to seal the glass to the frame of the door? It appears I might have to take off the springs on the door to get to the mounting screws. Any advice on getting the springs back on?

Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

You should not have to remove the spring on the door hinges.

Open the oven door and check to see if the is a locking mechanism.

Check in your owners manual for the instruction on how to remove your door.

The door should lift of the hinge.

There is nothing special that you will need.

Here is a link to the breakdown of your range model jsp31g0p1wh.

Thanks for the reply, Sheila. I saw some of the other threads talking about double backed tape around the seal of the glass. I didn't see any on the frame after the old glass shattered but wondered if it was there.

One other question is about the pads on the door the glass presses up against. It appears that two of the four are missing. Is there a special heat resistant pads I should be using?

Have a happy Thanksgiving. Thanks again for your response.
