Default GE lower wall oven will not turn off
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JKP27W0D1WW
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a 3-year-old GE TrueTemp double oven which has digital controls for the upper oven and an analog (?) knob control for the lower oven. After using the lower oven and turning the knob to the Off position, the light remains on and the oven continues to heat at a warm temperature. If I tweak the knob, pushing down on it or attempting to "shake" it a little bit, sometimes the light and the oven will cut off. But often it will not and the oven is inadvertently left on for hours.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Is it likely a wiring issue, or do I need to explore replacing the thermostat or some other part? I'm a pretty handy guy, in general, so is it relatively easy to get to the parts and replace them?

Thanks in advance!

David

It sound like you have a faulty thermostat.

Here is a link to your wall oven model JKP27W0D1WW.

When you replace the thermostat be careful not to damage the capillary tube.

Thanks for the suggestion, Sheila. Any idea where I might get step-by-step instructions for disassembling?

I don't know of any site that offer step by step instruction but the repair is and easy one.

You will have to remove the oven from the wall to route the capillary tube.
