Exclamation GE Built-In Electric Wall Oven will not Heat Up
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JTP15
Age: 1 - 4 years

Can anyone give us advice on our oven? The display/clock panel seems to be working okay. It is lit up and displaying the correct time. I am able to push in the options of heating/temperature. The oven then proceeds to go through the motions, but the preheating display does not show the temperature going up and when I check inside, it oven is not heating. I tried it both on bake and broil. The oven was working perfectly 2 days ago. We just had a thunderstorm and the power was shut off for 1 minute. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it. We checked all of the breakers and nothing is shorted. We called GE and it will be $70 for them to just come out and look. Does anyone have any advice or have been through something similar?

With the power off to the oven open the control and check the clock for damage.

If none is noted check the power coming in to the oven.

If you are getting 240 volts the clock is the problem and will have to be replaced.

Here is a link to your oven model JTP15.

There should be 4 to 5 more characters in your model to give you the actual breakdown.
