unfortunately you are not getting much of a response
Probably because no one has a wiring digram for this unit.
I know I do not, fact is I have never seen a 3 wire bake element.

My guess would be that the two black go to the element and the yellow goes to the ground. But this is just a guess.
Do you have a wiring diagram on the back of the stove??
It should show the hook up.
You had a dead short so worst case scenario is another component has blown
Does your broil element still work.

Unplug the stove, take the back off, trace the wires back to see if there is some type of fuse inline with one of the element wires

Unless you are familiar with electrical basics and have a volt ohm meter, it may be time to call in a pro.

I DENMAN
there was a schematic map but does not show the wires for the bake element terminals

We will try the two black and 1 yellow .......and let you know - can this cause damage?

Yes it definitely can cause damage

You are dealing with 240 Volts. This can be lethal.

Do not hook the element up until you are sure where the wires attach.

Yes, Denman

Thank you I know 240 volt can be deadly

I will defintely turn it off first from the fuse box!

but is it okay to place 2 blacks on one terminal
and the yellow on the other??

I would not do this
You could blow a component if it is wrong

How is it connected now.
Do you have one black and the yellow going to the element?

How was it connected when it blew the fuse

Sorry for being condescending about the 240 volts but I don't want you to get hurt

dENMAN,

You are not condescending at all! Thank you so much - I appreciate your concern as well as the fact you are trying to help me

When we first hooked it back up - when the fuse blew
It was 1 black 1 yellow on one terminal
and the other black on the other one

It is not hooked up at all right now - terminal taped - waiting

Do you have a volt ohm meter

I am going to look around on the net to see if I can find anything comparable to yours. So far all the the diagrams I have looked at have the same color wire on both sides of the element. but I just do not trust this. That yellow wire is a puzzle.

Is the yellow or one of the black wires a smaller gauge.
My gut feeling is that the two blacks should go to one side with the yellow to the other side.

The larger gauge wires should go to each side of the element
