In my case, in did end up being the ignitor for the oven. I found a couple of methods to check on this website, but in the end I didn't trust what I was seeing. I was able to call my brother who is pretty good with circuit tests. This model has another ignitor for the broiler which looks almost identical...except it is the opposite hand, with a welded bracket so you can't really install even as a temporary. Anyway, the part cost around $45 and the replacement was fairly simple, except that one of the screw tops had broken off and I needed a trip to the hardware store (twice) to figure out the correct size replacement. Once I did, I basked in the warm glow of natural gas oven heat.
One more thing, the broiler ignitor is on the top of the oven, and the oven igintor is on the bottom, you'll need to remove the oven "floor" to access.
Good luck. |
