Default Gas Oven leak
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 790
Age: 1 - 4 years

I smell gas and have use a leak detector to try to determine its origin. I have detected gas inside the oven and the bottom drawer. I cannot definitively identify a leak at a specific fitting, although I do detect gas at the orfice inside the oven. I have replaced the pressure releif valve, I have not yet replaced the safety valve- one I purchased is defective and I have not gotten it replaced. All lines have been checked. The fact that I smell and detect gas inside the oven leads me to believe that it is a valve that is not closing the gas circuit when the oven is off. When I purchased and replaced the safety valve, I got a very large flame when the oven ignited-, therefore I felt it was defective, the old valve appears to burn properly. I would appreciate any other trouble shooting tips or thoughts.
Thanks,
Laura
