Default G E Spectra Oven
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JGBP30CEA3CC
Age: 1 - 4 years

I had a repair man come to my house and tell me my oven was not getting hot enough because the sensor was bad and I needed to replace the module that runs the clock etc. I asked him why because everything else works and the oven heats but only when it is on 550. He said when you replace one you need to replace the other that did not make sense to me . I think i need to change the sensor only what do you think.

He is right sort of. Your problem is your control board. The control board could damage the sensor. So as a tech also we have learned that replacing the sensor also is the best thing for the product. Because after the control board is put in, alot of times the cutomer would say the temps are better, but still not right. So as a tech we figure, if you are going to the espense on replacing the board, you might as well replace the sensor at the same time. Because we will eventuallly be back to replace it anyway. So doing it now, we would save you the service call and the labor, if we were to come back. If you need me you can reach me at ApplianceEducator.com

I tested the sensor out of the oven on ohms and it read 0 and then i put it in hot water and measured the same. Should I still order the board to or just the sensor

I took the sensor out of the oven and checked it with my ohms meter and it showed 0 and then put it in hot water and read the same. Do you think i need the board also.

The sensor is bad by that test
