Thanks for the information on removal and replacement of the top. I did as you said and was able to replace the top effectively. Now I have a new problem. When I damaged the top I also damaged the bridge element and needed to purchase a new one. I matched up every wire except when I came to the new bridge burner.
The old bridge element had a spot weld between the coil connector and the sensor. On the new one, it had a wire from the coil connector to the opposite side of the sensor. The problem is that this sensor connector on the old one had a yellow wire on it. Now with the green wire on the connector that had a yellow wire there was no place to plug in the yellow wire. So I moved the green wire from the inside connector plug , where it was when it came new, to the outside connector plug on the sensor, similar to the spot welded plugs on on the old burner. I then put the yellow wire back on the connector where I had removed the green bridge wire. When I powered the range up it popped and neither the front/ rear or bridge element work now.
Any idea what I did wrong and what needs to be done now?
I could use a wiring diagram of this bridge element and advise on what might have popped before I take it apart again. |
