Default FC code after replacing clock assembly
Brand: Jenn-Air
Model Number: WW27430W
Age: More than 10 years

Several months ago, the display went dim on my double convection oven. I just ordered the electronic clock assembly (PS120923) from PartSelect, and it arrived promptly. It was slightly different from the old assembly and had different numbers. It also had masking tape over one row of wires at the top of the assembly, which the old one did not have. When I installed it, the display was bright and I was able to set the clock. But in a few seconds got an FC fault code with constant beeping. The manual says to hit cancel off and if that doesn't fix it, call a repair provider. I hit cancel off, the FC went off and the beeping stopped, but the FC and beeping came back in a few seconds. I tried disconnecting the wire that provides the power to the assembly and also turning the circuit off and back on. Neither fixed the problem. I read online that FC means there is a communication error and also something about magnetic interference and a shielded connector. I don't know what other part I need or what else I need to do to fix this. Thanks for any advice.

Disconnect the power to the range and check the wiring connection to the clock.

I reconnected the power wire to the clock assembly and got the FC code and beeping. I turned off the circuit to the range. When I turned it back on four hours later, I once again got the FC code and beeping.

I found a list of the fault codes for the oven that indicates that this is a communication error and that the power relay board would need to be replace. Does PartSelect stock this part? I didn't see it in the online diagrams for this oven.

The relay board is located behind the control panel and mounted on the side wall.

It is number 11 on the internal control panel.

Here is a link to your oven model WW27430W.

I would check the wiring before replacing the relay board.

Here is the relay board.

I have disconnected and reconnected (at both ends) the 4-pin wiring connector that connects the power relay board to the clock assembly. Is it possible that connector needs to be replaced? If so, does PartSelect stock that? If that might be the problem, I will try replacing it before ordering the power relay board. Thanks.

The wiring is available and is listed under the control panel breakdown.

When I thought it might be the power relay board, I called a repair technician. I did need the new clock display, but the FC communication error was caused by the pins on the power relay board. The technician straightened these, reconnected the wiring harness, and the display now works fine.
