Default ERC wiring
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: JBP79AS1
Age: More than 10 years

I am in the process of repairing the above range which has shown an F2 error code on multiple occasions. I suspect either the oven temp sensor or the ERC and have ordered both parts.
I have been told that the wiring of the replacement may be different than the original. Can anyone help with schematics or wiring instructions.
Many thanks

If there are wiring changes the instruction should come with the new control.

The F 2 means the the control has sensed temperature above 630 degrees during the bake.

Look at the contacts on the bake and broil relays.

If they are welded replace that control.

If the contact are not welded check the sensor for high resistance.

The sensor resistance should be 1100 ohms at room temperature.

If it is higher replace the sensor.

Here is a link to your range model JBP79AS1.
