Default Element power light stays on
Brand: Hotpoint
Age: 5 - 10 years

Tonight while cooking dinner we turned on the back small burner after about 2 minutes there was a POP and a small white flash I checked the fuse and sure enough it was blown. Replaced with new 20 Amp and then the controls orange power indicator was lit up even though all burners were off. Now the elements are constantly on high with no control over heat level and the orange light does not go out. Obviously we have removed the fuse both burners were tested for countinuity with readings of 47 on small and 54 on large burner.

Default

It sound like the switches have failed.

Check the wiring to the switches.

Can you please supply your model number?
