 Electronic panel on range doesn't light up or function Brand: Kenmore Model Number: 790.78674400 Age: More than 10 years
Please help! The electronic light display on our Kenmore gas range does not light up or function (can't turn on the oven or timer or use any of the other functions of the touch pad) We never received any error reports - it just stopped working. The dial for the warming tray still functions, as do the burners. How do we determine if the touch pad is the problem or the clock assembly behind it? Are both of these units combined into one part for my model range? Could a malfunction of the oven temperature sensor cause the problem we're having? Last week we used the self cleaning feature. Since this didn't work very well, we then used an oven cleaning product (which we have since learned we shouldn't have) Could any of this have caused our problem? We would like to repair this ourselves but can not return the electronic panel (costs over $100) if that does not solve the problem. Please help us to figure out what is wrong and how to repair it (please give details on repairs) Thanks! The range is about 2 years old (not 10 as stated above)
