It sounds like an igniter problem.
This should be check by an in home technician.

Iam not clear from your question whether it is a gas range or electric range...If it is a gas range ,try to take the burner out and give a wash with mild detergent,dry it and replace it. Sparks will vanish!

Electric start for burners
I have the same problem with mine. Jenn Air slide in gas range. I called service today. Can you give me a heads up on what the problem was.
