Default Electric broiler not hot enough
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JBP21GV2
Age: More than 10 years

This is the original range/oven that we bought new when the house was constructed in 1996. About 5 or so years ago, the entire control unit was replaced to fix some problem that I don't even remember, although I think it was something with the range.
This past year, the bake element began sparking, and upon inspection it looked like the coating was worn in spots, so I replaced the bake element and the oven worked fine.
Thereafter, the broiler element still worked, but it stopped getting red hot. Unlike the bake element, a visual inspection did not reveal any damaged areas. And, the resistance of the oven sensor appeared to be the proper ohms. I replaced the broiler element, but it did not make a difference. Although the bake element was working correctly, I tried replacing the oven sensor, and that didn't make a difference, either.
Why would the bake function work properly, but not the broil function, when I replaced all the parts? I thought that perhaps there was some connection between the replacement of the bake element and the broil element not working properly, but there was some amount of time that passed before the broiler problem was noticed.
Anyone experience this before? Any ideas?

Does the broil element heat at all?

It is likely the relay on the electronic control that has failed which means a new control.

Check the wiring to the control also.

Here is a link to your range model JBP21GV2.

Yes, the broiler does heat, but it doesn't ever turn red like it should. I'd say the temperature only gets to about 175 degrees or so, maybe 200.
