Hi,

my downdraft has stopped working. It always had problems when the stove or oven got hot. If I tried to turn on the fan after the stove or oven has been on for a while, then it would not function.

Now it doesn't turn on at all.

I believe the fan motor still works. And I've replaced the switch.

I think it is either a melted wire or bad control board. But I'm wondering about how to go about diagnosing it. And if indeed it is a bad board, what part do I need to purchase to replace it? And how do I replace it?

An update:

Purchased the circuit board that controls the downdraft system and replaced it.

Curiously, I found the original board was not protected by the heat shield supplied with the replacement part. There was no shield whatsoever between the exposed back of the circuit board and the exterior oven wall.

No wonder the thing stopped working.. . . .very frustrating to have paid for a product that was poorly assembled.

Or was it a fix that was slipped into the parts package without notifying owners of the problem. .. I wonder.

Anyway, if you are having similar problems, I would check this part.
