[GE repair]

I started my self cleaning cycle and when done the door latch won't completely release. The handle goes back in farther then it use to and doesn't fully release the latch. I have to slide my finger in the stove to finish unlataching the door. When I get the door open the latch goes back to semi-latch position and when you close the door it relatches.

It sound like the locking assembly may be loose.

You will have to take the top of the stove off and have a look.

There should be a couple of screws along the lip of the top to release it.
