Default Crackling behind panel
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: YKERC507HW2
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello,

I have a KitchenAid range. I was cooking with the elements and heard a crackling noise behind the control knobs. I opened the panel and didn't see any loose connections. However, I did notice the main plug was burned at the ground and one other terminal. There was also a burn mark on one of the back vents. I opened the back and again did not see any damage to the wires.

Could any of these events be related? Any help?

Also, does anyone have the door assembly blueprints for this model?

The crackling sound could be one of the controls arcing inside.

I don't think it would be related but it is hard to say.

You should fix the burnt wires and see if the problem goes away.

Can you please verify your model number as I can not locate it on our database?

It should be on a tag on the frame of the range where the drawer closes.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have verified the model number, unless the 0 is an o. Also, before this all happened one of the burner lights was continuously on even though the element was cool. How can I fix this?

It sounds like the control for that burner is faulty.

Is this a Canadian model?

OK this is why I can't locate it on our database.

Here is a number that you can call to get parts for your range.

Whirlpool 1-800-807-6777.

Kitchen Aid is Whirlpool.
