Default Cracked glass cooktop - is replacement as straightforward as it seems?
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: GLEC36S8A
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a Frigidaire GLEC36S8A cooktop that I managed to drop a pan onto and crack. From looking around, it seems that I can order the glass replacement cooktop relatively easily. It isn't entirely apparent how the cooktop fits on, however. It appears that the glass top ships already fitted to a metal frame that fits over the main unit, and that this frame attaches to the unit with a few screws. This seems consistent with some other posts I have seen here for other brands. Before I order and take this on, can anyone advise me as to whether this truly only involves unscrewing the old top and screwing the new one back one, or if there is something more involved I am missing?

For reference, the part I am looking at is part 16 in the diagram at http://www.easyapplianceparts.com/Sc...e/GTXZ1FHD.gif

First you will need the last two digit of your model number to get the correct part.

The last two digit are for color.

You will have to transfer the elements from one top to the other.

This is straight forward.

Here is a link to your cook top model GLEC36S8A.

With the last two digit of your model number you will get a better parts list.
