Default Cracked Glass Cook Top Below Burners, Is It Worth Fixing?
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JGS968SOH2SS
Age: 1 - 4 years

My glass top below the sealed gas burners of my stove cracked during the self-cleaning mode. I'm just wondering if the stove is worth fixing or should I just chuck it or part it out to sell on an online auction. I didn't notice the crack right after it happened but heard it happen while it was self cleaning but just thought that it was normal expansion and contraction from the high temp. My burner grates weren't on at the time, they were in the dishwasher and didn't notice the crack until I took the grates out of the D.W. Is it worth fixing? $680.00 for the glass top is a little steep, combined with the design flaws of the stove.

If the range is in new condition and you are not having other issue with it then it likely worth the repair considering the cost of the range.

I would check with the store that you bought it from to see if they would help out with the cost of the replacement top.

If the stove is that new they may do something for you.

Check in your owners manual for the warranty on the top of the range.

Here is a link to your range model JGS968SH2SS.
