Default Cooktop Element Not Working Properly
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: YKERC507H54
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a KitchenAid Superba electric range & cooktop and the front right element is not working properly. The element will only warm up but will not get really hot; when placed on "high", the element doesn't glow red.

The problem is not the actual element as I swapped the front & back elements and the issue persists in the front right location.

I thought that the problem might be in the Infinite Switch so I wired a different element to the front right infinite switch and that element worked properly.

What else could be causing the issue? Bad wire? Should I test the Infinite switch for continuity?

Thanks.

Check to make sure that the contacts in the terminal block are not burnt.

Usually you can look at the end of the element and see pit marks from arcing.

The prongs on the element may not be making proper contact. Try spreading the end outward so they make contact.
