Default Cleaning Cycle
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 790 9462990
Age: More than 10 years

Hi,
I previously tried, apparently unsuccessfully, to send a request for help in diagnosing the
problem with my Kenmore range. The range is a Kenmore model #790-9462990.
Following are the problems;

The door latch is now in the lock position all the time. I have removed the latch assembly
temporarily. The stove will bake, broil etc., no problem. When the self cleaning cycle is set
to work. the indicator light do’s not work. The lock light, the heating elements nor the
locking door latch work.

So everything works on this stove except the oven self cleaning cycle.

Looks like to me that at some time during a cleaning cycle the motor that operates the
door lock quit. However the whole cleaning cycle components are apparently not getting
power!!

I am pretty handy fixing electrical stuff. So would like to try and find out just where to
start looking for the problem. MY WIFE HATES THIS STOVE! I got to make it work!
Thanks, Narm

This could be the contacts in the selector switch.

It could be one of the micro switches in the door lock.

The wiring diagram should be on the back of the range.

You will have to check the circuit to see what is causing your problem.

Here is a link to the parts of your range model 790 9462990.
