Unplug the range.

Remove the screws securing the oven bottom cover.

Raise the back of the element cover and slide the cover back to release the front edge of the cover and lift it out of the oven cavity.

Remove the screws securing the bake element to the rear of the oven wall.

Pull the element forward to allow disconnection of the terminals on each element leg.

Reverse the procedure to reinstall the bake element.

Here is a link to your range model MER5775QAQ.

Hi Sheila or anyone else,

I'm trying to the same procedure as described above. Except that when I pull the element forward, it seems to be connected (by pins or something) to something else, two shiney silvery things, I assume contacts of some kind. What do you think this could be? Will I need to open the back of the oven to finish this procedure? My oven is an Amana model #AER5735QAW

thanks

Here is a service manual
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16025644.pdf

Sounds like you pull it forward then disconnect the wires from the element.
It is not like a stove top element which has a receptacle.
If it will not come far enough forward to do this you will have to open up the back, to disconnect the element.
