Default Ceramic Receptacle and Wiring Harness
Brand: Jenn-Air
Model Number: C236W
Age: More than 10 years

I have a Jennair cooktop (Model C236W; year installed 1991) that has the capacity for 2 units (2 burners each). One side of the cooktop operates correctly. The other side, when the unit is plugged in, only one burner will work. I have replaced both infinite switches on that side and it still does not work. I have pulled out the ceramic receptacle and the contacts are in poor shape. I found pieces of broken metal inside there and cleaned all of that out. It still does not work. My question is this. Should I replace the wiring harness from this receptacle to the switches and if so, how do you remove the existing wires from the ceramic receptacle? Also, is there a way to isolate the wires as the problem?

Question similar problem

I also have a C236W of similar vintage (March 1992) that is malfulctioning. I have three modular units: a regular two-coil unit, a griddle unit and a ceramic top halogen unit. The griddle and halogen units have seen heavy use; the coil unit was put in the attic shortly after we bought the halogen unit - it's practically brand new. The following problems occur with all three units - no exceptions.

Whenever one of the units on the left is turned on, both activate. And only the front right burner works; the rear right burner doesn't work at all.

I've got a DVM, and can certainly troubleshoot by disconnecting wires and checking voltages, etc. Any suggestions?
