Default C970 Canadian Dim Display Help!!
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: C970-657922
Age: More than 10 years

Hi, I am new to the forum.

I purchased a used, Kenmore Elite C970-657922 Oven.
(I live in Canada, and I cannot seem to locate a manual for this particular model anywhere....)

The oven seems to work OK, but the LED display seems to be dim, and I am wondering if there is a trick to increase the brightness, or is this a general flaw with this model?

I have read that about other models being dim.....

Is it a control board that will require replacement, or is there an intensity increase button?

I am aware that due to the C970, that it may be a fridgedaire, but I have downloaded their manual, and the model does not look the same, (the control portion anyway)

My oven has a glass face, with 4 buttons (rubber) on the left, and 2 buttons on the right, if I am not mistaken.

Can anyone help?

No tricks, dim display could mean low power output from the step down transformer powering the display or a bad display. The transformer is often a part of the display. If this was the only problem you're having with it I'd live with it since the displays are expensive. You can double check the wires connecting the display just to make sure the connections are clean and tight.

Because your oven is Canadian I don't have a parts breakdown for it.

The problem would be in the control and it would have to be replace.

For a price on the control you can call Sears Parts and Service at 1-800-469-4663.

This is a Canadian number.

Can I ask which Frigidaire site that you used to get the manual?

Most of the parts breakdowns are generic.

Thanks for the reply.
I used the Frigedaire website, US.
The Canadian site didn't work.

Here is the link.

Frigidaire Manual Search Results

List is long, but the model number is not there, the rep told me that all of the 970's are the same.....

I downloaded the manual for the control, but it doesn't seem anything like what they are explaining.....

Funny, the reply didn't work.

Here is the link.

Frigidaire Manual Search Results

I spoke to a Rep, and he did say that my C970 is indeed a Fridgedaire.

I downloaded many control manuals, but none seem to be the same as what mine looks like.

I am reluctant to use any of the information, because of the model number discrepancy.

I really wanted to look elsewhere for a price for controller board and a glass-top,
THe original is WHITE and the pots have stained the surface.
I was wondering if you could replace with a black top model,
Maybe the stove isn't worth the time....

Frigidaire Manual Search Results

Was the link that I was told to use.
It has many control boards, but none of them seem to be what I have.
I am wondering what the replacement number of the glasstop and the control board is...
I have a white top, and I am wondering if I can replace it with a black colour top, instead of the dirty looking white version.
Yeah, the LED still works, but is dim, and not like the other appliances that are in the kitchen.
I just though that maybe there was a dimmer button control or something...
Does anyone have the manual for that stove?
I hate going to Sears for anything....although it seems like I am forced to with this one....
Is there another control board that is capable of being used?

The only difference in the tops would be the color so you should be able to switch to a black top.

There are other parts suppliers that are in Canada that you can use if you don't want to go to Sears.

Look in the yellow pages of your phone book for a parts supplier.

The US Frigidaire web site does not have the breakdown of Canadian models.
