Exclamation Burnt Glass Top
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JBP72KK1CC
Age: 1 - 4 years

Ok, I'll admit to having royally screwed up.

I took a copper-bottom pot and absentmindedly set it on the cooktop, turned the burner to max heat, and forgot to put water in the pot. Nothing serious happened, but needless to say the pot is ruined, and now there's a jet-black ring on the glass top.

Again, it was a copper-bottom pot, the burner was at maximum heat, and there was no water in the pot.

I'm not sure if the glass is scorched or if this is just residue, but has anyone had this happen before? And will this ring come off, or will I have to replace the cooktop?

Thanks for any help.

Take a razor blade scraper and scrape the discolored area.

If it come off you have gotten very lucky.

If you have to replace the top here is a link to your range model JBP72KK1CC.
