Default Burning Smell/clicking noise/Light stays on
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: jp989t0d2ww
Age: 1 - 4 years

My cooktop is about 4 years old. Last night we cooked dinner with no problem. After an hour or so, my wife noticed the "hot" light was still on as was the "on" indicator light, even though all switches were off........About the same time we atarted to smell the telltale electrical burning smell.......I took a quick look underneath and could hear a clicking/rattling noise, and I shit the power off......

Is there any way to diagnose this or am I better off replacing it???? I dont want to have to replace it, but Safety is #1, plus I dont want to just start replacing parts and pump $$$$ into it if it cant be definitvely diagnosed.....

Thanks
