Talking Burner won't turn off
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: ES400
Age: 1 - 4 years

We have one of those digital flat surface stoves and yesterday the burner just wouldn't turn off so we now have to unplug the stove everytime it is not in use.
It seems to be some kind of a switch attached to the burner that keeps clicking (on and off) but the off isn't working. What is the electrical switch used for this stove? THank you!

The switch on the element is a limiter used so the glass top will not over heat if the infinite heat switch fails.

What you are going to need is the infinite heat switch that is in the control panel.

Can you please supply your model number?

If is on a tag on the frame of the stove where the drawer closes.

Go in the back of the panel and pull BOTH power wires to the bad switch. This will enable use of the range.

Look in your yellow pages for a local appliance part supplier.

You are not alone! I know it has been a while since you posted this, but I think I have the definitive answer. I have placed a post on this forum that I think you will be very interested in. Please take the time to view it:

http://forums.partselect.com/range-r...ries-9554.html

One of those switches that keeps clicking on and off (a relay) has gotten stuck. Please report this to the CPSC as I have urged in the above mentioned post.

I would be very interested in hearing what has happened since you originally posted your question. Please add it to the thread aformentioned.
