Smile Broken Tempered Glass Top on 30" gas stove
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JGP336AEV
Age: More than 10 years

I dropped something heavy on the tempered glass top of my GE Profile 30 inch gas stove top. The glass cracked. I removed all of the broken glass, and everything seems fine except there is no glass now! I think I need to order the Glass Main Top - Black, which I believe is Part Select #: PS253407 for $153.60. Is there anything in addition to the glass top part that I need to order? I noticed that there was double-sided tape of some sort underneath the tempered glass that was removed when I threw the glass away. Do I need to order something to ADHERE the glass top to the stove after I receive it? Is there anything else that I need to be aware of before I put the new glass top on? Thanks! Julie

The two way tape may come with the top but it is best to ask when you order it.

You should not need any thing else.

Here is a link to your cook top model JGP336AEV.

Hi Sheila,

I already ordered the glass top (black). I do not see the double-sided tape that can even be ordered, so it must come with the top. I will know in a couple of days when I receive the glass top. Will directions come with the top to tell us how to SAFELY remove the part 154 - The Electrode (surface burner spark electrode)? Removing the screws (part 679) should not be difficult. However, we will need to remove the Electrode in order to take part 60 and part 67 out. Then, we can set the glass top down. Is this safe for us to do, or do we need to call a repair person? I would hate to cause a gas leak and then have our house explode! Thanks,
Julie

No instruction come with the glass top so if you are unsure of how to do the repair safely it is best to have a qualified gas appliance technician do the repair.

There is a foam tape listed but it might be the seal that goes between the counter and the cook top.
