Smile Broken Switch/ Knob?
Brand: Hotpoint
Age: 5 - 10 years

I recently brushed up against an oven and the knob broke off however, it wasn't the knob that broke, it's the piece of steel that the knob fits on. Is this piece of steel the switch? I'm trying to look for a new part to fix this. I'm very hands on and believe I can fix this, but I need to figure out what part I need. I believe it's the switch. If you can help me that'd be great. Thank you!!

Yes it would be the switch that you will have to replace.

Can you please supply your model number?

The model number can be found on a tag on the frame of the range where the drawer closes.

The model number is RA513001. It's a fairly older HotPoint. Does a replacement switch even exist for this model? If not can I use something else instead? Thank you!

That model # did not come up. If it is a burner switch, there is a replacement switch for that. When you turn you burner switch on do you push in and turn it? If so the call that a push and turn switch. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Here is a link to your range model RA513001.

The surface element switch, the oven control switch and the selector switch are all available.

Thank you for your response and finding the parts. Should I be looking at the oven switch? It was the switch the turns the oven from off to on and broil and such. Thank you so much for your help. This is going to save a lot!

Is the switch that you broke on the left side or the right side?

Hey, so we I just purchased the oven switch.

I've done plenty of handyman work before. Will this part come with instructions? Also, what is anyone else's opinion about doing this work? I feel like it can't be too hard, but I know I will have to deal with electricity which can be iffy. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
